Why we started it

Paying should be the easiest part of a meal out. In Egypt it is often the worst.

The gap

Catching the waiter’s eye, waiting for the bill, hunting for change. Most cafés and restaurants still run the table on paper pads and waving for the check, and splitting a bill between friends is an exercise in arithmetic.

Cash is still a normal way to pay, tickets are small and Wi-Fi is often patchy, so tools built for other markets, with new hardware and card-only payments, rarely fit a neighbourhood café.

Where the idea came from

Aada started from a simple observation at Egyptian tables: the end of a meal out is often the worst part of it. Its name, قعدة, is the Egyptian word for a good long sit-down with friends, the part of the evening the product is meant to protect.

QR ordering has already proven itself in the Gulf. Aada was started to build it the Egyptian way: Arabic-first, friendly to cash, and with no monthly fee, so even a small neighbourhood café can use it.

How it works

The bill, settled in seconds

  1. 01

Guests scan the QR code at the table or counter

  2. 02

They order from the live menu

  3. 03

The bill is split by person or by item

  4. 04

They pay at the table, with no app to download

What you can do

Inside Aada

  • Scan and order, no app

Guests scan the table’s QR code, browse a photo menu and order with notes for the kitchen. There is nothing to download.

  • Split the bill fairly

Each guest pays from their own phone: just their items, an equal share or a set amount.

  • Menus in the guest’s language

Menus appear in the language set on the guest’s phone, and special requests reach the kitchen translated into Arabic and English.

  • Order ahead for pickup

Guests order and pay on the way, then collect when it is ready. A public directory lists the venues that take pickup orders.

  • Table reservations

Guests book by branch, date, time, party size and seating area. Venues confirm, seat or cancel from a day view and calendar.

  • Item rewards

Venues set “buy a number, get one free” on any item. Signed-in guests track their progress and choose when to use a free one.

  • Live order board

Orders and waiter calls arrive in real time with the table and notes. Staff move orders from preparing to served and confirm cash in one tap.

  • Menu control by branch

Turn an item off or mark it sold out at one branch, change prices, add options and sizes, and schedule breakfast or late-night sections.

  • Branches, QR codes and roles

Set each branch to dine-in, self-serve or both, print table QR codes, set opening hours and give staff access limited to their role or branch.
